A WORD FROM THIS YEAR'S
AUSTR-ALIA IS SET TO BE ONE OF THE BIGGEST
NIGHTS OF THE YEAR FOR THE AUSTRALIAN LIQUOR
INDUSTRY. IN THE LEAD UP TO THE BIG NIGHT WE'VE
ASKED A FEW OF OUR SPONSORS WHAT THEY ARE
MOST EXCITED ABOUT.
For the first time this year, Archie Rose will
be sponsoring ALIA and using the event
to launch a brand new product, Distiller's
Nigel Weisbaum, sales and marketing
manager for Archie Rose told National
Liquor News: "There are two main reasons
that we chose to sponsor ALIA, the first was
the theme, Austr-ALIA. Right now there is a
massive growth in Australian craft spirits, and while it's a tiny piece of the
market we seem to be making really good inroads. A lot of the top bars
now range things like Four Pillars and West Winds Gin and Archie Rose,
and that's the thing, the first point of education for consumers is through
retailers and obviously bars, so we thought that was a nice tie in.
"The other thing is that we will have a brand new product that we will
be serving on the night. It's going to be called Distiller's Strength gin and
it's 52.4 per cent ABV and it's going to have a range of new botanicals.
"We started working on it two weeks ago and it took 45 different trials
to get the blend right. We've distilled honey, with all of the honey coming
off hives that are on top of the distillery. So the bees only travel within an
eight kilometre radius of the distillery, which we think is pretty cool and
it makes a beautiful flavour and mouthfeel, it's not too sweet.
"At the actual event we'll be serving up a range of our signature
serves and introducing everyone to our brand new product, the Distillers
Strength Gin," said Weisbaum.
As the largest Australian-owned
brewery, it makes perfect sense
that Coopers would be back at ALIA
for 2016 to celebrate all things
Australia. Coopers will once again be
sponsoring the pre-drinks and hosting
a networking bar on the night.
Cam Pearce, the sales and marketing director for Coopers told
National Liquor News: "Coopers is Australian-owned and Australian
Made and we are delighted to be a partner with ALIA and sponsor the
networking bar at the awards this year, especially with an Australian
theme. We look forward to another great night with friends and
colleagues in our wonderful industry."
At this year's ALIAs, Rum Co.
of Fiji will be launching the
award winning premium rum,
Ratu. Hand-crafted at the Rum
Co. of Fiji distillery, the team
will be serving up the award-
winning Ratu Dark 5YO, Spiced 5YO and the 8YO Signature
Liqueur rums with a range of signature cocktails that showcase
Ratu's unique flavour profile, versatility and mixability.
Blake Kramer, the senior brand manager at Rum Co. of Fiji told
National Liquor News: "As well as supporting the event, we'll be
sponsoring the Bar Team of the Year award. It's just the start of our
commitment to Australia's amazing bartending community, and
it's a partnership we'll extend to key venues throughout Australia,
working with them to help consumers enjoy rum in a unique and
exciting way, through tailor-made programs run by the expert brand
ambassador team at The Exchange.
"The annual ALIA awards night is an amazing celebration of the
great talent, brands, establishments and industry that we all are a
part of, and it'll be a great honour for Ratu to crown this year's Bar
Team of the Year, alongside last year's winner Lobo Plantation and
the highly-commended Black Pearl.
"It is an exciting time for us and we are looking forward to a
great night and a great year to come," said Kramer.
Hostplus CEO David Elia said: "Hostplus
is delighted to support the Australian
Liquor Industry Awards (ALIA) as co-
host. These are important awards that
recognise excellence and as the industry
superannuation fund for those who live
and love hospitality, tourism, recreation
and sport, we have a long and proud history of supporting those
industries through events such as ALIA."
In keeping in line with the Austr-ALIA theme, Kegstar
will be serving up a variety of Australia's best craft
beer, with the team encouraging attendees to stop by
their networking by for a beer and a chat.
Nick Becker, the business development manager for
Kegstar, told National Liquor News: "Kegstar, born
and raised in Australia and provider of stainless steel
keg solutions, will be showcasing some of Australia's
best craft beer at the Kegstar Bar at this year's ALIA
awards. Join us before the awards to chat and sample some great beers."
